Scientific Officer Manchester £23,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Full-time, Permanent The Role: We are recruiting for a Scientific Officer to join the Transgenic Team within a Biological Resources Unit. This is an on-site, permanent role supporting the day-to-day husbandry, welfare, and breeding colony management of transgenic mice, in line with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. You will play a key role in supporting Project Licence holders and contributing to the effective running of the facility. The role involves working collaboratively within a specialist team and includes participation in a weekend and Bank Holiday rota. Key Responsibilities Carry out daily husbandry, care, and welfare observations for animals within the facility, recording and reporting findings accurately. Manage transgenic mouse breeding colonies and undertake colony management tasks as requested. Act as a responsible licensee for genetically altered animal lines where required. Support cryopreservation and rederivation processes. Maintain accurate written and electronic records in line with regulatory and institutional requirements. Work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and promote the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement).
