About the role:
An EHV engineering design consultancy client of mine is looking for a HV Cable Design Engineer. This multidisciplinary consultancy provide expert services to help clients transport electricity efficiently, from generation and storage to end use. Their expertise covers projects of all sizes, from smaller works to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
The HV Cable Design Engineer will provide HV cable system design expertise across a wide-range of projects, delivering cable design projects through the undertaking of cable system design, studies and calculations.
Package:
* Salary - Dependent on level: Business is open to Junior, Engineer, Senior and Principal levels
* Location - Fully remote with no office expectation
Selected Key Responsibilities:
* Work both independently and alongside the Senior Design Engineer & other members of the team to deliver cable design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness, and profitability.
* Undertake cable system design, studies, and calculations to relevant BSEN/IEC/National Grid/DNO/ ENA standards and practices.
* Provide input into cable routing feasibility and detailed design studies working with other members of the Team, taking local planning, traffic management and client requirements into account, while developing the most economical cable system design
* Prepare cable system design calculation including cable sizing assessments, earthing and interface studies.
* Engage with clients to understand project requirements and ensure that the technical scope of projects is met.
* Producing design concepts, specifications, and other technical documents. Including relaying design information to internal drafting resource.
* Attending sites for inspection and design purposes.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate HV cable designs seamlessly into larger projects.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Degree - Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in a related field.
* Competent in using CYMCAP or similar software
* Knowledge of AutoCAD/MicroStation (Desirable)
* Demonstrable technical skills in Transmission voltage level underground cable systems development, design and specification or demonstrable transferable skills and experience.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence and to prioritise workload.
