Mechanical Project Manager
MJ Quinn is a leading M&E Contractor with a solid history of installations and maintenance across the UK. We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager with experience in building services to join our established team.
The role is responsible for UK-wide projects and requires both office and site-based work, with overnight accommodation possibly needed.
We are seeking a Project Manager with well-developed communication skills, industry knowledge, and experience in M&E or similar fields. The Project Manager will be the primary contact responsible for planning, executing, and delivering mechanical projects on time, meeting specifications, and fulfilling customer expectations.
Key responsibilities include defining project requirements and scope, coordinating resources across departments, and working closely with our Energy Division and Shared Services to oversee project teams. Effective project completion, quality control, stakeholder communication, and reporting to senior management are essential throughout each project lifecycle.
Mechanical Project Manager duties include:
* Managing projects from inception to completion.
* Conducting site surveys, including layout design, quotations, and client liaison.
* Planning project programmes.
* Managing subcontractors and budgets.
* Setting achievable targets with clients and site teams.
* Leading project teams to ensure technical accuracy.
* Performing technical reviews.
* Controlling project-specific commissioning strategies.
* Managing commercial aspects of projects.
* Implementing health & safety policies and procedures.
* Investigating incidents, accidents, quality failures, and service issues, and taking corrective actions as needed.
* Conducting staff performance and quality audits.
* Managing project handovers and close-outs.
* Reporting upward to senior management.
You will demonstrate:
* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
* Strong negotiation, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills.
* Advanced interpersonal, team-building, leadership, and organizational skills.
* The ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders.
* Experience managing M&E projects or similar.
* Recognized building services qualifications (HNC or equivalent).
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
* IOSH/NEBOSH certification.
* Full UK Driving License held for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
* Legal right to work in the UK.
* Experience in the Telecoms Sector, such as Data Centres or Telephone exchanges.
* CRM experience.
