Main duties of the job
· To answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries in ahelpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintainconfidentiality at all times.
· To cover the front reception desk to deal with patient's face toface.
· Booking, cancelling, amending patient's appointments using EMIS.
· To maintain a good rapport/relationship between internal andexternal staff of the Practice at all times.
· To have an overview of the demands and workflow of the Practiceduring the working day.
· Ensure the waiting area/reception front desk is kept tidy and keepforms and patient information stocked up where possible.
· Effectively signpost patients to services appropriate to theirneeds.
· Process and request the repeat prescriptions through EMIS.
· Liase with Clinicians for patient queries.
Work in a team of receptionists to cover any ofthe duties expected of the team

Qualifications
Essential
1. Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
2. Excellent computer skills.

3. The ability to excercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries/problems.
4. Knowledge of EMIS web clinical system or another similar clinical system.
5. The ability to manage own workload and act independently.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Sensitivity and empathy with people from differnt backgrounds.
8. Ability to work without close supervision.
9. The ability to work to a professional standard.
