The Gamecrafters’ Collective is a remote, profit-sharing indie games studio operating as a cooperative. We build original games, share in the upside, and give creators the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real projects.
We’re now recruiting across key development and art roles for both existing and new games.
Open Roles (Volunteer / Profit Share)
Unity Developers
You’ll:
* Build gameplay systems and core mechanics
* Integrate UI, art, and audio into the game loop
* Optimise performance for real-time play
* Collaborate closely with designers and artists
Ideal if you:
* Have solid C# and Unity experience
* Understand gameplay architecture and systems thinking
* Enjoy working in agile, milestone-driven teams
Unreal Engine Developers
You’ll:
* Implement gameplay using Blueprints and/or C++
* Support environment integration and systems design
* Help move projects from prototype to first playable
* Optimise performance and stability
Ideal if you:
* Have hands-on Unreal Engine experience
* Care about player feel and responsiveness
* Thrive in collaborative, fast-moving teams
2D Artists
You’ll:
* Create characters, environments, and UI assets
* Help define and refine visual identity
* Support marketing assets and store presence
* Work closely with designers to enhance clarity and feel
Ideal if you:
* Can adapt your style to fit an established visual direction
* Understand how art supports gameplay, not just aesthetics
* Enjoy rapid iteration and feedback loops
* Are comfortable working across in-game and marketing assets
3D Artists
You’ll:
* Build game-ready assets and environments
* Contribute to world-building across horror and sci-fi settings
* Optimise models for real-time performance
* Collaborate closely with developers and designers
Ideal if you:
* Understand the balance between visual quality and performance
* Think in terms of modular assets and reusable components
* Enjoy bringing atmosphere and mood into environments
* Are comfortable working closely with designers to support gameplay needs
3D Animators
You’ll:
* Create character, creature, and environmental animations
* Bring gameplay to life through movement and timing
* Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth implementation
* Help define animation style and feel
Ideal if you:
* Have a strong animation reel
* Understand gameplay-driven animation principles
* Can balance quality with performance constraints
Level Designers
You’ll:
* Design and build engaging, playable levels
* Shape player flow, pacing, and challenge
* Work with art and code to bring environments to life
* Iterate based on playtest feedback
Ideal if you:
* Understand player psychology and progression
* Can translate ideas into playable spaces
* Think in terms of MVP and iteration

This is a volunteer role. There is no salary.
All contributors share in profits based on contribution under our co-op model.
Team meetings typically run between 18:00–21:00 UK time, so please ensure that works for you.
