NHS Insourcing Operations Manager
As Operation Manager you will be able to mobilise and run insourcing projects for NHS Trusts. You will be an excellent communicator who is also very organised. You must be able to prioritise your workload and deliver clinical services effectively while being receptive to working in a fast-paced workplace.
Responsibilities
* Commercial Management: You will work to the HBSUK cost models in place and know when to seek authority outside of normal operating. You will understand team make up and costs and how to drive target margins.
* Mobilisations: Can support the mobilisation of standard insourcing Clinical specialities, covering outpatient services, day case and in-patient surgical services. Can work side by side with more experienced team members for multisite, multi-speciality and complex mobilisations.
* Operations Management: Can run outpatient clinics, day-case surgery and in-patient surgery. Full and detailed knowledge of the HBSUK insourcing processes, including rota planning, capacity planning, forecasting and flash-reporting.
* List Planning: Has a comprehensive understanding of list planning, the typical numbers of procedures that can be performed by speciality, how to optimise lists from case mix and an ability to drive high gross margins through list planning
* Back-filling services: Can stand in for Operations coordinators and Operations administrators and the clinical on-boarding teams. Has a detailed / forensic working knowledge of running lists, activity sheets and remittance advices as well as on-boarding processes
* Governance: Detailed knowledge of policies, procedures, protocols, pathways, IR35, incident management and service reporting. Knowledge to span client (NHS) and internal (HBSUK). Good knowledge of CQC and data security.
* Client Management: Is able to quickly develop excellent working relationships with all clients and stakeholders, including consultants. Is able to use trusted relationship with client to EXPAND existing business footprint to a wider portfolio of products and services or across wider geography.
* Team Management: Is able to directly and indirectly manage teams, including coaching and mentoring as required.
Requirements
Essential
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Management Training o (CMMI Level 3 or Equivalent)
Experience
* Experience of working in a team management role within an NHS trust or healthcare business.
* Track record of leading and achieving changes. • Experience of working across departmental and organisational boundaries to deliver specific targets and to improve services for patients.
* Evidence of organisational awareness
* Dealing with Suppliers and Subcontractors
* An ability to step in an backfill any shortages in the team.
* Experience of writing or being part of a team to deliver tenders (for surgical or outpatient work)
* Working with Medical Consultants
Knowledge and Skills
* Good analytical reasoning (verbal and numerical) and sound financial management skills
* Hands-on familiarity with NHS processes and systems
* Commercial acumen
* Strong communication skills
* Stakeholder engagement
* Able to prioritise own workload, delegate appropriately and manage time effectively.
* Good IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Able to write and deliver presentations to a multidisciplinary audience
* Able to lead, facilitate and motivate a wide range of teams to achieve results.
* Flexible approach to change management and problem solving
* Knowledge of CQC rules and regulations
* Knowledge of NHS Commissioning and contracting
* Knowledge of clinical governance
* Appreciation and / or knowledge of clinical coding and NHS tariff structures
Desirable
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Possibly a qualified Nurse or other Healthcare Professional
* Higher Degree (MSc or MBA)
Experience
* NHS Operational experience in Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, General or another surgical specialty
* Working as part of or leading Insourcing Teams
* Experience managing team
* Experience working within an Acute Hospital environment in the NHS
