DBT Psychological Therapist

The Intensive Psychological Therapies Service is a forward-thinking, dynamic group treatment service for people with complex trauma and long-standing interpersonal difficulties. Our therapies include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
We seek an enthusiastic professional to join our DBT team. Applicants must have a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions (psychology, psychiatric nursing, social work, or occupational therapy) and previous experience in mental health.
Experience of DBT is essential.
This post is based in IPTS Branksome Clinic Poole and Dorchester.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Head of IPTS, deliver a comprehensive psychological therapy assessment and specialist intervention service, recommend allocation of patients to appropriate interventions, and provide peer clinical supervision to staff as directed. In keeping with NIMHE Personality Disorder guidelines (2003), the IPTS emphasises time‑limited, focused, evidence‑based interventions.
Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.

Person Specification
* Professional registration in one of the core mental health professions
* DBT training
* Minimum 2 years experience delivering DBT to an adherent standard
* Previous experience in mental health
* Experience assessing and treating clients with complex trauma and long-standing interpersonal difficulties
* Experience maintaining high professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing situations, verbal abuse, and threats of physical abuse
* Experience facilitating groups
* Experience teaching, training and/or supervision
Skills / Experience / Knowledge
* Previous experience in mental health
* Minimum 2 years clinical experience delivering DBT to an adherent standard
Personal Qualities / Aptitudes
* Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance to support and maintain practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour
Car owner / driver
* Driving is essential. Must have a full and valid UK driving licence and be able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
