Overview
Residential Support Worker – full and part time permanent positions. Location: Coanwood Children’s Home, Cramlington. Contract type: Permanent. Salary: £25,584 - £27,269 plus an enhancement for evening and weekend hours (£2,491 - £2,664 per year based on 37 hours).
Applicants must be 22 years of age or over due to Ofsted guidance. Please note, if you require sponsorship to work in the UK, the position does not meet the Home Office criteria for UK Visa Sponsorship.
Role and Responsibilities
* Provide care and support for four young people aged 10–17 in the home, addressing their emotional, social, and educational needs to help them thrive.
* Work under the direction of the managers to ensure high‑quality, safe, and effective care for each young person.
* Work a shift pattern that includes early, late, and waking night shifts; average 37 hours per week; two out of four weekends and some bank holidays.
* Contribute to a reflective, supportive environment with opportunities for personal development and positive role modeling.
* Participate in induction, training, and ongoing professional development; support the Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care (a job requirement) and opportunity to complete Level 4 where offered.
Qualifications and Experience
* Good general education; willing and able to undertake relevant training.
* Commitment to completing the Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care; Level 4 opportunities may be available for full-time employees.
* Disclosure & Barring Service (Enhanced) Disclosure required.

About the Team
Coanwood Children’s Home is part of NCC, which operates five children’s homes and a national secure home with education. The service employs about 200 care staff and 30 support staff across sites, caring for up to 25 young people aged 6–17. The service is Ofsted inspected annually and is committed to high aspirations for every young person.
