Job summary
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon (full-time or part-time) with an academic background and specialist interest in Adult Degenerative Spine Surgery.
Applicants must have completed (or be on) recognized post-CCT Fellowship training in adult spinal surgery. The appointed consultant will also participate in general Orthopaedic Trauma care for a population of 500,000, requiring recent experience and knowledge in this area.
The candidate should have completed CCST in Trauma and Orthopaedics, with expertise in adult degenerative spine surgery. Evidence of formal clinical leadership training, successful quality improvement projects, and recent research within orthopaedics and spinal surgery (within the last 5 years) is required.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide general orthopaedic trauma care mainly at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, and spinal surgical services across all sites. This is an opportunity to join an organization where clinicians lead management of orthopaedic and spinal conditions.

Qualifications (Essential)
* Full GMC Registration
* FRCS (Tr and Orth) or equivalent
* Training and experience adequate for UK CCT or eligible for Consultant appointment consideration; candidates must be fully registered on the UK GMC Specialist Register. Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT.
Experience (Essential)
* Evidence of formal clinical leadership
* Evidence of quality improvement activities

Desirable
* Experience in training programs involving allied health professionals
* Experience in audit management
* Experience teaching undergraduates and trainees
