About The Role
We are seeking a leader to drive and coordinate the professional development of all staff across Telford College, with a strong focus on enhancing teaching, learning and assessment.
In this pivotal role, you will ensure that professional development activity is fully aligned with the College's strategic objectives, Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), operational priorities and the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) Professional Standards. You will take a proactive approach to shaping a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that staff development is impactful, evidence-informed and responsive to organisational need.
You will lead and evaluate the college-wide approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), oversee induction and probationary training programmes, and coordinate the annual Teaching and Learning Conference. A key part of the role will be to ensure that professional development initiatives are effectively monitored and evaluated, with clear, measurable impact on staff performance and learner outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic planning, coordination and delivery of professional development across the college.
Ensure all CPD activity aligns with the college's strategic plan, operational plan, and Quality Improvement Plan.
Embed the ETF Professional Standards at all levels within staff development.
Support the Head of Quality and Performance in promoting a culture of continuous professional learning and improvement.
Lead, design and deliver professional development initiatives that enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
Align individual teaching and learning development plans with the professional development review (PDR) process.
Collaborate with curriculum managers and the Quality Team to identify and address professional development priorities.
Lead the induction programme for all new staff, ensuring it provides a consistent and engaging introduction to Telford College.
Provide tailored training and development support to staff during their probationary period, in collaboration with line managers.
Develop and implement systems to track, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of professional development.
Produce regular reports analysing participation, completion rates, and outcomes to inform college improvement planning.
Manage the college CPD budget, ensuring effective use of resources and approval of training requests in line with the PDR process.
Build positive relationships with internal departments and external training providers.
Represent Telford College at external CPD, ETF and sector network events.
Skills & Expertise
Experience in coordinating or leading professional development activity
Strong understanding of teaching, learning and assessment in the FE sector
Experience of aligning CPD with organisational and quality priorities
Experience in evaluating the impact of professional development
Experience in planning and delivering events or conferences
Experience managing budgets and external training providers
Knowledge of effective CPD design, implementation and evaluation models
Understanding of college quality processes and improvement planning
Qualifications & Training
Degree or equivalent qualification
Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS)
Leadership or management qualification (Desirable)
