Job Description
Do you enjoy coaching and developing the skills of others? Do you enjoy developing processes by working with colleagues across different teams to secure transparent and effective environmental regulation?
You will join a water quality focused regulatory team of specialists enabling strategic change within the water sector, particularly focusing on storm overflows. Working proactively with Environment Agency teams and external organisations, the role will lead the development of audit processes for water quality investigations carried out under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. You will also be responsible for developing training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), responding to technical queries, and coaching staff on sewerage and water quality investigations.
We’re a dispersed team working with a wide range of teams across the country involved in water industry regulation and water quality planning. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You’ll have the option to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional payment, and full training will be provided.
The team
This post is part of the Water Quality Regulatory Development team in Water Industry Regulation. The team is dispersed throughout the country. The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative while maintaining effective communication with internal and external customers.

Experience/skills Required
* A relevant degree such as civil engineering or environmental science, with demonstrated continued professional development.
* Experience of sewer modelling and/or river quality impact modelling for Urban Pollution Management (UPM) studies, including model audits.
* Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies.
* Excellent organisational skills and effectiveness at coaching others.
* Experience in embedding new approaches into business through collaborative relationships across dispersed teams.

* Numerical Modelling and Forecasting: Interpret data to forecast environmental conditions, including climate change, pollution, flooding, and water availability. Describe sewer and river quality impact models you have developed, including audit processes and problem resolution.
* Strategic Environment Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for environmental sustainability. Summarize your technical knowledge and impact in water quality improvement.
* Coaches Others: Use various methods to develop others’ capabilities. Provide examples of successful coaching and its outcomes.
* Shapes organisational approach & delivery: Develop and embed processes at an organisational level that influence policy and operational outcomes. Describe a process you have introduced and integrated.
