Accounting Advisory Services
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within Forvis Mazars with a technical accounting focus.
The Forvis Mazars Accounting Advisory Services team is a client facing team that provides technical accounting support and advice under IFRS, UK GAAP and other local GAAPs to clients across a broad range of industry sectors. The team are renowned for their practical approach when facing complex technical accounting issues.
We provide advice to clients on areas such as: technical accounting opinions, GAAP conversions, IPO flotation support, accounting for group reorganisations, complex consolidations and finance director support, including on-site / secondment support.
Job Purpose
The Accounting Advisory Services Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering a broad range of technical accounting assignments which address various scenarios in the practical application of financial reporting standards under IFRS and UK GAAP.
Role and Responsibilities
The Accounting Advisory Services Manager will be part of a team that collaborates to deliver high quality services to our clients.
The role provides the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, offering the benefit of exposure to and learning across a variety of accounting topics.
The Accounting Advisory Services Manager will be responsible for:
* Assisting with the delivery of accounting advisory client engagements, including acting as the day-to-day lead on client engagements.
* Preparing advice for RI review and to provide to clients with advice on a variety of technical accounting issues.
* Analysing client transactions or structures and providing detailed technical accounting analysis, including drafting formal accounting opinions.
* Assisting clients in their implementation programme for new accounting standards or a new accounting framework.
* Representing Forvis Mazars when on secondment to clients.
* Assisting with the identification of business development opportunities and responding to client proposals.
* Working effectively as a team member sharing knowledge and responsibility and updating senior members on progress.
* Liaising with other Forvis Mazars departments, as necessary.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The Accounting Advisory Services Manager will possess the following skills and experience:
Qualification & Experience
* A sound technical understanding from completing the ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) accounting qualification and have robust technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP/FRS 102 and UK Company Law.
* Experience of working at a Manager level in a professional services firm, ideally within a similar financial reporting role.
Technical
* Experience with evaluating technical issues, analysing facts, consulting and delivering solutions to clients.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially writing formal reasoned technical responses.
* Experience of writing technical publications will be beneficial.
* Strong research skills.
Project / Client Management
* Exceptional client management skills, and a track record of retaining existing clients and winning repeat work based on the ability to understand and meet their requirements.
* Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise and organise work, with strong attention to detail.
* Manage a team and budgets and negotiate fees with clients.
* Ability to provide an innovative approach in delivering bespoke service offerings, based on the specific needs of the client.
