About the Role
The Architecture discipline at Queen’s University Belfast, based in the School of Natural and Built Environment, has a strong reputation for teaching standards and a growing research profile nationally and internationally.
This full-time, permanent role aims to advance architectural knowledge and practice through high-quality, REF-returnable research, excellent teaching, and creative, design-led inquiry. Responsibilities include producing internationally recognized research outputs demonstrating originality, significance, and rigour; securing research funding; and engaging with industry, policy, and communities to generate impact beyond academia.
What You Will Do
* Contribute to research, teaching, supervision, curriculum development, and strategic goals of the School and University, focusing on high-quality peer-reviewed journal outputs and collaborative applications with UKRI and EU.
* Deliver inspiring and inclusive teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, integrating research-led content and studio-based design pedagogy.
* Supervise student research and design projects.
Main Duties
* Demonstrate leadership by contributing to initiatives that grow research income, enhance student experience, and increase international student intake.
* Inspire and motivate students to learn.
* Participate in leadership and administrative processes within the Architecture discipline at a level appropriate to your career stage.
Candidate Requirements
* PhD in Architecture or a related field.
* 2(i) (or international equivalent) degree or higher in Architecture.
* Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals within the architectural field, REF returnable in UoA13.
* Experience applying for research funding from research councils and relevant bodies.
* Teaching experience or contribution to design programs and related areas.
* High analytical capability and intellectual ability.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with high graphic and design awareness.
* Ability to work in a team and lead activities.
* Proven ability to enhance student engagement and support students.
