Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Support Specialist to join our remote finance team supporting BAE Systems. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in SAP systems (Ariba, Fiori, CERPS), excellent Excel skills, and a strong understanding of international currencies and project finance. This role requires financial business partnering experience, hands-on transaction processing, reporting, and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process monthly transactions, period-end close, and financial reporting/forecasting
* Customer sales invoicing, AR management, credit control, and customer query resolution
* Manage AP payment runs and employee expenses
* Weekly and monthly cashflow reporting and forecasting
* Bank reconciliations and cashbook postings (UK & FX currencies)
* Act as Finance Business Partner to Workplace Services within BAE Systems RES
* Line management of one Project Accountant Lead transaction processing, journal entries, and month-end close activities
* Prepare and review phased budgets and Integrated Business Plans (IBP)
* Ensure compliance with internal financial control frameworks and corporate governance
* Serve as SAP Project Accounting SME for the EITS to FS SAP Transition Project
* Support the Finance Team post-SAP implementation, including close, budgeting, and IBP
* Finance Business Partner support for Applied Intelligence and Nightworks business units.
* Project accounting oversight for 4065 live projects (MOD-related)
* Prepare and review Contract Status Reports (CSR) and Summary Status Reports (SSR)
* Manage a small finance team: 1 Project Accountant, 2 Finance Assistants
* Participate in the Shared Services Senior Finance Team and report to the Finance Director
* Support long-term financial planning (5-Year IBP) and lead regular forecast reviews.
* Provide financial guidance for project delivery and new business opportunities
* Assist with pricing and costing models for bids; support commercial team on RFBA (Request for Bid Approval) preparations
* Contribute to monthly financial reporting processes including risk and opportunity assessments (Os & Vs)
Must-Have Skills:
* Strong experience with SAP (Ariba, Fiori, CERPS), especially in transaction reporting
* Comfortable working with international currencies
* Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling)
* Proven experience in project finance support and financial business partnering

* Design and implement Graph Neural Network (GNN) architectures for enterprise-scale applications.

* Perform model evaluations, A/B testing, and hyperparameter tuning for optimal performance.
* Build reusable pipelines and tools for ML training, deployment, and monitoring on GCP.
* Engage directly with customer technical teams to understand business needs and translate them into ML solutions.
* Produce technical documentation and presentations for internal and customer-facing stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in computer science, Mathematics or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
* Certifications Minimum: Google Professional Data Engineer Preferred: AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification
* 7+ years in a customer facing role working with enterprise clients
* 4+ years of experience working in enterprise data warehouse and analytics technologies Hands-on experience building and training machine learning models.
* Experience writing software in one or more languages such as Python, Scala, R, or similar with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
* Experience working with recommendation engines, data pipelines, or distributed machine learning.
* Experience working with deep learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow, Keras, Torch, Caffe, Theano).
* Strong coding skills in Python and familiarity with ML/DL libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
* Knowledge of data analytics concepts, including data warehouse technical architectures, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environments (such as Apache Beam, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, MapReduce, Flume).
* Customer facing experience of discovery, assessment, execution, and operations. Demonstrated excellent communication, presentation, and problem solving skills.
* Experience in project governance and enterprise customer management.
* Proficiency in building Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) using frameworks like DGL, PyTorch Geometric, or similar.
* Experience with ScaNN or other approximate nearest neighbor (ANN) techniques for vector similarity search.
* Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Dataflow.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to work with clients and cross-functional teams.
Preferred to Have:
* PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field.
* Experience with production ML systems and MLOps pipelines using Kubeflow or Vertex AI Pipelines.
* Knowledge of transformers and large language models (LLMs).
* Understanding of recommender systems, natural language processing, or graph-based search engines.
* Contributions to open-source ML libraries or published research in AI/ML.
