Location: Midlothian (Dalkeith) and Homebased Working
Full Time – Fixed Term until 31st March 2026
If you are looking for a rewarding career and want to work within an epic team that supports your growth, then you have come to the right place. Here, you can start your day knowing your work makes a difference!
We are seeking a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner to join our MHARS team.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team alongside the Community Mental Health Team, managing a crisis line—an open-access, single point of telephone contact for self-referrals and agency referrals. You will respond to calls guided by service principles that emphasize inclusivity, sensitivity, and respect.
From the moment you answer the call, you will listen carefully to understand the issues leading to the crisis, providing immediate responses to those in danger. Your goal will be to deliver fast, tailored support, resolve crises effectively, and assist with future planning.
After addressing the initial crisis, you will support connections to statutory or community resources and deliver a Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) to those in distress. This involves community-based problem-solving, wellness and distress management planning, and signposting for up to 14 days. You will be flexible and responsive, offering support through the medium most comfortable for the individual.
You will help service users establish and maintain meaningful, fulfilling lives in the community. As a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner, you will play a central role in providing quality, recovery-focused support.
We offer numerous employee benefits and a team of inspiring colleagues. We will support your career development by helping you acquire new skills, access learning opportunities, and apply your progress in practice.
