Job Description
New Directions Education is recruiting for an ALN teaching assistant for a fantastic school in the Caerphilly area. This is a care-based role supporting pupils with a variety of needs, and is looking for someone reliable, passionate, and dedicated to providing continuity for children.
You will need a minimum of 3 months child-based experience, and an enthusiastic attitude to help support students, and experience from the care field is also advantageous.
You will also be expected to help the teacher in preparing the classroom for lessons. This may involve a variety of activities such as photocopying worksheets, setting up art equipment, weighing out ingredients, preparing computers, rearranging the furniture for a particular activity and so on. The right candidate should be able to provide a creative and exciting learning environment whereby pupils are motivated and encouraged to show ambition, to maximise their potential, and to embrace all aspects of school life to develop a wide-ranging skill set.
Job Requirements include:
• Level 2 or 3 or working towards (or min 2 years’ experience working with children) available to reference
• Experience working with additional learning needs or coming from a care background and able to reference
• Team Teach an advantage or happy to complete once registered
• Available full time 5 days
• A passion for raising student expectations and achievements
• The ability to build strong working relationships with staff and pupils
• The ability to remain up to date with educational developments and changes whilst undertaking the role
• Eligible to work in the UK
• In possession of a clear DBS with the update service and registered with the EWC
