An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Head and Neck Department for an Apprentice Medical Secretary within the Ear, Nose and Throat team.
To provide a comprehensive typing and administrational service to members of the team in order to assist in the achievement of departmental objectives. The post holder will work closely with the team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. This will require the utilisation of good typing, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will undertake a level 3 business administration apprenticeship alongside their role. They will have one day per week protected study time to complete their assignments and attend classes with their tutor.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the team leaders, the post holder will be involved with a wide range of duties including clinic typing, telephone enquiries, admin and non-admitted PTL.
The post holder must have the ability to organise and prioritise their workload effectively, and work on their own initiative.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills, an organised and methodical approach to their duties and enjoy a very driven secretarial role within the Head and Neck team.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
* GCSE - Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English)
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
* Recent & relevant experience in an office environment in a clerical/admin capacity
* Experience of dealing with telephone enquiries
* Understanding of Confidentiality
* Previous computer experience in a Windows environment
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience in a Healthcare environment
