Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
West Dunbartonshire HSCP has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Staff Nurse to join their team. School Nursing works in partnership with children, young people and their carers to develop positive physical and emotional health and wellbeing, assisting them to attain their full potential. School Nursing collaborates with the wider multi-agency team (e.g., social work, education, police and third sector organisations) to identify and support health and wellbeing needs for a designated population of school aged children and young people, based on the Principles of Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).
Candidates require a working knowledge of child protection systems and are expected to provide accessible, safe, effective and person-centred care as part of the School Nursing Service. Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, along with knowledge of IT systems, are essential. The post holder will be accountable for leadership as part of the wider team and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of their own workload as delegated by the school nurse. Ability to travel across West Dunbartonshire is essential.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Applications are invited from nurses registered with a First Level Degree, and evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development. Applicants should have transferable experience and demonstrate leadership skills acquired in current and previous roles. There will be an opportunity to access the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - School Nursing programme. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHSGGC can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
