Job Description:
As a Base Metals Trader in our Commodities group, you will have the opportunity to make your mark in the commodities markets, quote large notional sizes, and manage strategic risk of client flows and orders. You'll liaise with a diverse range of investors, using your communication and negotiation skills to transact effectively. In this role, you will collaborate with our Technology and Quantitative Research groups to expand our electronic capabilities and mentor junior staff. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your analytical mindset and proactive problem-solving skills will be highly valued.
Job responsibilities
1. Manage strategic risk of client flows and orders
2. Focus on excellent relationship management with clients
3. Work in close collaboration with the Technology and Quantitative Research groups to help grow our electronic capabilities
4. Assist with mentoring and development of junior staff
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Solid trading experience within Base Metals products
2. Ability to assess and understand risk around trading positions and market events
3. Willingness to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competitive pressures
4. Analytical mindset, with a proactive approach to problem solving
5. Ability to operate both autonomously and as part of a broader team with a strong focus on collaboration
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Experience interacting with major institutional commodity clients (nice to have)
2. Experience with electronic market making (preferred)
3. Bachelor's degree in quantitative subjects is useful
This role involves UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will need to meet UK regulatory requirements regarding fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence, and may require approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to perform such activities.
