Overview
We’re seeking a Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to support the research and development of next-generation airborne mesh networks. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in network protocols and routing algorithms, who can evaluate trade-offs between architectures and contribute to the development of innovative, resilient airborne networking solutions.

Responsibilities
* Lead research into new approaches to airborne mesh network design.
* Evaluate and adapt existing network protocols to meet project-specific performance and reliability requirements.
* Design and implement simulations to validate architectural decisions.
* Analyse data from simulations and propose enhancements to system designs.
* Support the development of standardisation proposals and internal documentation.
* Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders across engineering and leadership teams.
* Strong understanding of networking protocols and the function of each layer in the stack.
* Familiarity with routing algorithms and mesh networking topologies.
* Ability to design, run, and interpret experiments and simulations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Research into novel networking algorithms.
* Use of network simulation tools such as NS-3, OMNeT++, or similar.
* Experience with software engineering practices (e.g., scripting, version control, automation).
* Knowledge of wireless communications and challenges in mobile/ad hoc networks.
* Background in airborne or UAV communications systems.
