Overview
We are looking for a motivated and organised person who will support the existing programme of youth work and support the development of new projects with young people in Waltham Forest.
You will need to have relevant experience with young people aged 8 to 18.
You will need to have an ability to relate to young people and develop positive relationships.
Most importantly you will be passionate about seeing young people develop their gifts, skills, talents, and character.
Please note: A completed application form will be required along with x3 references and a DBS check in order to comply with our safeguarding requirements.
Duties
1. Contribute to the delivery of sessions of youth work and outreach via the Mobile Youth Venue, Youth Clubs, and Detached/Outreach work
2. Contribute to session planning and resource preparation.
3. Develop professional supportive relationships with individuals and groups of young people using a variety of approaches as appropriate. Work one to one with young people, formally through mentoring or informally when appropriate. Engage with other professionals to safeguard and increase the young people's safety and wellbeing.
4. Ensure that all monitoring records are kept as appropriate and complete necessary administrative tasks, recordings, and evaluations relevant to your work.
5. Ensure that all work is focused on the development of young people and measured through the Worth Unlimited Outcomes Framework.
6. Take part in staff meetings and contribute to the overall development and strategy of Worth Unlimited for Waltham Forest.
7. Contribute to initiatives and actions that monitor and increase the quality of our work with young people.
8. Ensure that personal practice and projects are carried out within the policy framework and values of Worth Unlimited, including Health and Safety policy and Child Protection policy.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to Worth Unlimited fundraising activities.
2. Meet regularly with the Branch Leader/Manager for managerial supervision.
3. Participate in national Worth Unlimited events and initiatives as required, including attending the annual Worth Gathering event.
4. Attend Training as required to fulfil the youth worker role, for example, child protection, positive behaviour training/de-escalation training.
5. Any other relevant tasks as directed by your Line Manager.
