About Us

nexfibre is a £4.5 billion joint venture between Infravia Capital Partners, Liberty Global and Telefónica. It is on track to deliver ultra-fast full fibre broadband to millions of homes and businesses across the UK. Together with our strategic partner Virgin Media O2, we will create the first national scale competitor to BT Openreach and will provide consumers and businesses across the UK with better innovation and choice. We operate a wholesale business model; our customers are broadband ISPs and B2B resellers and customers. We do not operate a retail broadband business.


Job Purpose

Accountable for the IT strategy and roadmap, defining the guidelines and managing the delivery of a technology stack which is fit for purpose to support the evolving business strategy. Oversee and control the IT operations developed by specialists and partners, ensuring that the technology is best supporting business activity.


Key Accountabilities

* End to end responsibility for IT programme delivery, from planning through to design, development, integration, testing, and handover; including upfront engagement in scoping new initiatives to support business strategy and delivery of enabling IT Stack and IT operations within the scope of the portfolio. Ensure projects adhere to project planning principles and are successfully delivered.
* Shape and design the IT strategy: define guidelines and control the development of all aspects of the technology stack across architecture, deployment, workflow, delivery, operations, licensing, roadmaps, and in-life operations. Update and refine business cases for costs and benefits.
* Work with VMO2, our strategic operational IT partner, to align nexfibre needs with the VMO2 delivery roadmap. Define clear requests and priorities to be included in the VMO2 roadmap within quarterly governance and demand processes. Propose improvements to governance that enable faster delivery.
* Understand the architecture and solutions proposed by VMO2 for IT capabilities; analyse and provide feedback on additional nexfibre requirements.
* Oversee impact and feasibility assessments for new and future requirements, ensuring cost-effective technical solutions delivered with required quality and timelines.
* Oversee the definition and development of standards and guidelines, documentation and deployment practices for the IT Stack, integrating with architectural, security, legislative and health and safety requirements.
* Oversee IT Programme implementation: manage multiple projects for new or updated applications, maintain view of ongoing upkeep and improvement of IT systems, including data and security requirements. Track compliance with objectives and ensure quality agreements are met.
* Decision making: demonstrate leadership and make tactical and strategic decisions considering multidimensional impacts beyond near-term delivery dates.
* Programme leadership: provide leadership through formal governance roles, build trusted stakeholder relationships, and contribute to key deliverables such as business cases, cost estimates, programme plans and risk mitigation.
* Oversee technology partner compliance: ensure IT delivery contracts with partners and vendors meet SLAs and align with strategic and financial aims. Manage partners and suppliers to deliver defined quality, timescales and costs, with continuous improvement.
* Validate operating performance of solutions provided by VMO2 to support nexfibre needs.
* Manage IT budget accountability: oversee annual IT capital and operating budgets, including review, audit and prioritisation of IT systems and applications.
* Lead a mindset of innovation: identify innovative ways to enhance IT architecture and solution delivery from design through deployment.

Skills & Experience

* Deep IT expertise in the telecommunications and/or wholesale business areas, with demonstrable success in a senior information management role.
* Experience leading large programmes and delivering IT deployment at pace.
* Proven management of vendors, risk-based commercial frameworks, and vendor relationship management.
* Strong commercial skills to develop and challenge costs and benefits in business cases, including resource, financial and budget management.
* Ability to take decisions, assess situations for importance, urgency and risk, and act in the organisation’s best interest.
* Advanced interpersonal skills to influence, motivate and guide teams to deliver outcomes on time and with quality.
* Gravitas and courage to build relationships, resolve conflicts and maintain direction.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address issues and learn from them to prevent recurrence.


Desirable Skills And Experience

* Industry leadership; market awareness of technology trends and how to apply them to deliver value.
* Experience communicating IT-related matters clearly with the business.


Education & Qualifications

* Experience operating at a senior management level, preferably in a technical or project management role.
