Part time: 17.5 hours per week, worked on a variable roster pattern. Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services in partnership with Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services. Shifts are rostered to cover the phlebotomy service which operates 7 days per week. Phlebotomists are given at least 6 weeks' notice of their rostered shifts.
To be part of the phlebotomy team contributing to the clinical care of patients within the Royal Surrey Hospital and community by providing a high quality blood collection service.
The post holder will be trained as a phlebotomist and will carry out duties including wards, clinics, GP surgery work, or other departments as necessary. This involves handling biological samples, so awareness of departmental safety policies is essential.
Training will include performing a range of venepuncture techniques in various clinical settings. The post holder will work under supervision until assessed to work independently. Within 6 months, the post holder will be assessed on practical skills and knowledge, requiring competency equivalent to QCF Level 3 Unit 4223/340 Obtain A Venous Blood Sample (HSC 3053).
Experience is not essential, as full training is provided; however, recent healthcare or customer service experience is preferred.
