The Legal Services Department is now looking to expand to support the implementation of the PoliceScotland Estates Masterplan and recruiting for an experienced Senior Solicitor (Employment Law)
Key responsibilities of the Senior Solicitor (Employment Law) role include -
To assist the Chief Legal Officer in the effective delivery of professional legal advice and guidance to the Chief Constable, Senior Management and other members of Police Scotland and the execution of legal work, with a focus on employment law.
The post holder will be engaged in litigation and advice work, especially that of a complex nature at Employment Tribunals and where required Police Appeals Tribunals.
You will also represent (including by way of appearance) the Chief Constable and/or the Scottish Police Authority in civil litigation in the Scottish Courts.
Key skills and experience required for the of Senior Solicitor (Employment Law) include:
Current unrestricted Practicing Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland. Educated to LLB Degree (Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent.
DIPLP (Diploma in Legal Practice), preferably with Public Administration is desirable.
Personal Qualities Essential
Effective Court skills.
Effective negotiating and advocacy skills.
Proven achievements in specific areas of Court work, demonstrating relevant experience of Litigation and Advice legal work.
