Job Summary
We are seeking an organised and reliable Administrator to provide a wide range of administrative and financial support to the Church and Community Centre (“Corps”), working under the direction of the Corps Officer. The role suits someone who is practical, hands-on, and willing to support the wider life of the centre wherever needed. The role involves various contact with staff, volunteers and members of the public who visit us or need our help.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide effective administrative support within a busy and varied environment
2. Manage financial responsibilities, including petty cash, cash handling, paying bills, submitting required central returns, and monitoring budgets
3. Use Microsoft packages confidently, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Forms, and Dropbox
4. Plan, organise, and prioritise workload effectively with minimal supervision
5. Communicate professionally and positively, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, partners, and centre attendees
6. Carry out general administrative duties, including data input, telephone enquiries, and procurement
7. Take a practical, hands-on approach and be willing to support the smooth running of the centre as required
8. Assist with the organisation and administration of seasonal projects, for example Christmas programmes and events
The Successful Candidate Will Be Able to Demonstrate
9. Previous experience in a similar administrative role
10. Education to NVQ Level 2 and 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent experience
11. Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
12. A flexible and proactive approach to work
13. A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to work collaboratively
14. The ability and willingness to work within, support, and promote the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army Mission
