Work Location: FOUNDATION FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, INC. (Sites)
Reporting to designated sites: HS/EHS/SPS locations in Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Hollywood, Highland Park, and Lincoln Heights.
The Center Manager (CM) acts as a site lead and liaison between Child Development Center Teaching staff and the Child Development Supervisor within the Head Start/State Preschool program. Responsibilities include teaching assigned classrooms, overseeing daily operations, reviewing documentation, and supporting staff professional development through onsite monitoring of teaching practices.
Summary of Job Duties, Knowledge & Skills

* Ensure children's safety by developing safety plans, conducting daily health and safety checks, and addressing repairs promptly.
* Inspect facilities for hazards, remove unsafe equipment, and maintain a clean environment.
* Supervise children's activities to ensure safety, report accidents and suspected abuse, and conduct emergency drills.
Effective Teaching Practices
* Plan and conduct activities promoting healthy habits and development, using culturally reflective materials.
* Design daily learning activities aligned with children's interests and the Creative Curriculum to support school readiness.
* Maintain accurate records, including child observations and assessments (DRDP) three times per year.
* Create individual development plans (IDPs) in collaboration with parents to support learning goals.
* Assist with diapering, toileting, and promoting healthy habits such as tooth brushing and handwashing.
Center Manager and Leadership
* Assist in reviewing and developing action plans based on classroom reports (CLASS, ECERS, etc.).
* Conduct staff-parent conferences and home visits as required.
* Mentor teaching staff, including interns and volunteers, demonstrating effective practices.
* Follow agency procedures, ensure accurate recordkeeping, and submit reports timely.
Qualifications, Experience, & Skills
* Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, Child Development, or related field from an accredited college.
* Experience: At least three years of preschool teaching experience, with expertise in child development theories and family support.
Knowledge & Skills
* Assist staff with implementing curricula and meeting the needs of diverse children.
* Exercise professional judgment and autonomy in decision-making.
* Effective communication and leadership skills, with experience working with diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Licenses/Permits/Certifications
* California Child Development Site Supervisor or higher.
* First Aid and CPR certifications.
Special Requirements
* Proof of identity and employment eligibility (I-9 form).
* Medical examination, immunizations, and tuberculosis testing as required.
* Fingerprint clearance from DOJ, FBI, and CACI.
* Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Must be able to perform essential functions, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available.
