Offer description

Rhodes Vets, Kingsthorpe, Northampton, East Midlands

Join Our Friendly and Passionate Veterinary Team at Rhodes Vets!

Are you a Small Animal Vet looking for a practice where your voice is heard, your development is supported, and your work-life balance actually works? At Rhodes Vets, we’re proud to offer just that—along with a welcoming, collaborative team and a loyal client base.

Modern Facilities in a Beautiful Setting

Our practice is beautifully laid out with four consult rooms including one dedicated for nurse clinics, a spacious theatre, a dental suite complete with dental X-ray, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a well-stocked lab. We also have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, large kennels (including a separate cat ward), and a calm, inviting atmosphere. There’s also plenty of space to catch your breath, with generous staff rooms, a dedicated office area for admin or lunch-and-learns, and, of course, a very well-stocked biscuit tin. Our equipment includes Ultrasound, Refractometer, Multiparameter, tonometer, blood pressure machine, digital radiography including dentistry, endoscope, active heating devices, extensive existing orthopaedic kit, existing exotics equipment.

Our main practice is based in the lovely area of Kingsthorpe, Northampton, with a satellite consulting branch in Far Cotton. You’ll need a driving licence and your own car for the occasional travel between sites, but in return you’ll enjoy working across two well-equipped, friendly environments where no two days are the same.

As a small animal vet here, you’ll enjoy a nice balance of consults and surgery. We see a wide variety of cases, from routine surgeries like spays and castrates to soft tissue work, lump removals, and dentals. Our consults are long enough to allow for meaningful case workups and to build lasting relationships with our clients, many of whom have been with us for years.

Develop your career and find your people

You’ll be part of a supportive and experienced team, currently made up of five vets including certificate holders in Radiography & Imaging and Small Animal Medicine, alongside a brilliant RVN and a fantastic support team of receptionists and management. Our RVNs play an active role in patient care, assist in surgery, run their own clinics, and contribute greatly to the smooth running of the practice.

We’re a team that enjoys working together and giving back, supporting both national and local charities such as Guide Dogs, police dog services, and nearby rehoming centres. If you have a particular interest in exotics, we do have an established client base in this area, though it’s certainly not a requirement.

Build your career around you

We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.

We are flexible to discuss working days and hours. The weekly hours are up to 30 hours per week, with a share in a Saturday morning rota of 1:3 (with the possibility this will change to 1:6) No OOH or on call. Salary up to £65,000 DOE FTE.

A Beautiful Location with the Best of Both Worlds

Kingsthorpe is a charming and well-connected suburb of Northampton, offering the perfect balance of community feel and convenient city access. With a mix of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, and green open spaces, it’s a great place to live and work.

The area has a friendly, village-like atmosphere while still being just minutes from Northampton town centre and with excellent transport links to London, Birmingham, and beyond. Whether you're after scenic countryside walks, a quiet spot for a pub lunch, or easy access to local amenities, Kingsthorpe ticks all the boxes for a well-rounded lifestyle.

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from -
