Job Title: Driver Training Officer - NDORS Programme Starting Salary: £38,220 progressing to £41,771 per annum (pro rata for part time) Hours: 37 Location: Countywide (Hybrid working – remote, office-based & travel required) Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Growth & Environment About The Team Hertfordshire County Council is looking for a motivated and skilled Driver Training Officer to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) and wider road safety training initiatives across the county. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, dedicated, and forward-thinking team working to promote safer driving behaviours, reduce road casualties, and support drivers of all backgrounds—including vulnerable road users, driving offenders, and those who drive for work. About The Role As a Driver Training Officer, you will: Support the successful delivery of the NDORS programme by training, monitoring, and evaluating contracted trainers. Deliver high‑quality NDORS courses both online and in classroom settings. Play a key part in the development of course materials, report writing, record keeping, and performance evaluation. Support and maintain the Driving Assessment Scheme and other Work‑Related Road Safety initiatives. Deliver driver safety training to businesses, HCC staff, and community groups, including Winter Driving Courses and wider driver safety events. Work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends. Attend trainer observations, team meetings, and external appointments as required. This is a varied and evolving role suited to someone adaptable, organised, and committed to high standards of service delivery. About You About You We are looking for someone who is passionate about road safety and confident in delivering training to diverse groups. You will have: Essential: A City & Guilds Level 3 Education and Development qualification (or currently working toward it). A current NDORS Trainer licence. Strong road safety knowledge, including experience developing and delivering road safety initiatives. Good working knowledge of the Highway Code. Competence in Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presenting. Strong organisation, self‑motivation, and attention to detail. Desirable: NDORS Instructor licence. Accreditation or experience in delivering behavioural change programmes to adults. A current ADI licence. English Fluency The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
