GCP Applications Operator
Rate: £450 day Outside IR35Location: London - hybrid (3 days onsite) - Non negotiable Duration: 12 monthClearance: Active SC, willingness for DV
OverviewJoin a high-impact programme delivering secure, large-scale cloud infrastructure within a UK government environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Build, deploy and support applications across GCP (GKE, Cloud Functions, Compute Engine, App Engine)
* Operate within secure/disconnected (air-gapped) environments
* Monitor services using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Trace
* Manage deployments via CI/CD pipelines
* Maintain IAM roles, service accounts and security policies (least privilege)
* Support application migrations, testing and releases
* Carry out BAU ops: patching, performance checks, config updates
* Produce documentation (runbooks, LLDs)
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with GCP engineering and operations
* Experience with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC)
* Knowledge of IAM, networking, and secure system design
* Experience with Kubernetes/GKE and containerised workloads
* Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation
* Experience working in regulated or secure environments
* Ability to work across engineering, architecture and security teams
Nice to Have
* Government/classified environment experience (SC or above)
* Knowledge of NCSC or UK Government cloud standards
* Experience with AI services in GCP
* Multi-cloud, edge or data sovereignty experience
* GCP certifications
