The Role
We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our dynamic Analytical Laboratory team. You will be involved in planning, conducting, and reporting on complex chemical analyses that support the needs of our diverse client base.
Main Duties
* Precious and platinum group metal analysis, including traditional fire assay and cupellation procedures.
* Perform in-depth chemical analysis of precious and non-precious metals using various techniques and instruments, including ICP-OES.
* Operating XRF equipment to analyse a variety of samples, including precious metal content and plating thickness determination.
* Ensure accurate and reliable data interpretation for both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
* Regular maintenance and calibration of instruments, adhering to strict quality control standards and procedures.
* Provide technical assistance to other staff.
* Preparation of detailed analytical reports for management and clients.
* Remain fully updated on the latest developments in analytical techniques and instrument methodologies.
* Prepare sample solutions and chemicals.
* Follow methods of analysis for testing of samples to Reach regulations, along with other regulatory and in house compliance.
* Ensure adherence and maintenance of all ISO accreditation.
What We're Looking For
* A bachelor's degree in chemistry, or 3 -5 year's experience within an analytical laboratory.
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Works on own initiative with the ability to work equally well individually or as part of a team – essential.
* Flexible – this role will be reactive at times.
* Starter/Finisher – gets the job done.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office in particular Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
