Core Duties of a Kitchen Porter
1. Cleaning and Maintenance
2. Washing pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
3. Operating industrial dishwashers
4. Keeping work surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment clean and sanitized
5. Taking out trash and recycling
6. Cleaning fridges, freezers, and storage areas
7. Food Preparation Assistance
8. Peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients under the supervision of chefs
9. Assisting with basic food prep tasks (e.g. assembling simple dishes)
10. Restocking ingredients and supplies as needed
11. Storage and Deliveries
12. Unloading and storing deliveries safely and efficiently
13. Rotating stock and checking for expired or spoiled items
14. Ensuring all food is stored according to hygiene regulations
15. General Support
16. Helping set up or break down the kitchen at the start or end of the day
17. Replenishing items like paper towels, soaps, and cleaning supplies
18. Occasionally helping with front-of-house cleanliness (e.g. buffets, service counters)
