The Marketing & Communications Officer will support the promotion of Halifax town centre and communicate the work and benefits of Halifax BID to businesses, visitors and stakeholders.
The role involves planning and delivering marketing campaigns, promoting town centre events and initiatives, and ensuring BID projects and services are effectively communicated to levy paying businesses.
A key part of the role will involve visiting local businesses to create engaging content, including short‑form video and interviews that showcase Halifax businesses and town centre activity.
This is a varied role combining digital marketing, campaign delivery, business communications and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
Town Centre Marketing
* Promote Halifax town centre as a vibrant place to shop, visit and enjoy.
* Create engaging marketing campaigns to support town centre activity and BID initiatives.
* Manage Halifax BID social media channels and produce regular digital content.
* Promote local businesses, offers and events through BID marketing platforms.
* Support the marketing of seasonal campaigns and town centre events.
* Produce marketing materials including graphics, photography and video content.
Business Content & Storytelling
* Visit local businesses to create engaging marketing content that promotes the town centre.
* Interview business owners and staff to showcase their stories, products and services.
* Capture short‑form video content suitable for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
* Produce short videos highlighting businesses, campaigns, events and town centre activity.
BID Communications
* Support communication with levy paying businesses about BID initiatives and services.
* Promote business benefits such as the Seedl training platform and Discover Halifax Gift Card.
* Assist in producing newsletters, updates and communications to businesses.
* Ensure businesses are aware of BID campaigns and opportunities to participate.
Event Promotion
* Support the promotion of BID events and town centre activity.
* Produce marketing materials and social media content to support event promotion.
* Capture photography and video content during events where appropriate.
Digital Content & Marketing Materials
* Design and produce marketing materials using platforms such as Canva or similar tools.
* Create engaging short‑form video content for social media.
* Maintain a bank of photography, graphics and content that can be used across campaigns.
* Upload content to digital screens and other BID promotional channels.
Reporting & Data
* Track engagement and performance of marketing campaigns.
* Provide basic reporting on social media performance and campaign activity.
* Support the collection of testimonials and feedback from businesses.
Working Relationships
The Marketing & Communications Officer will work closely with the BID team to support the delivery of BID objectives.

Person Specification
* Experience in marketing, communications or digital content creation
* Strong social media and digital marketing skills
* Ability to create engaging short‑form video content
* Comfortable interviewing businesses and speaking with people on camera
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Organised and able to manage multiple campaigns
* Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and manage own workload to meet project deadlines.
* Experience creating short‑form video content
* Basic video editing skills using mobile or desktop tools
* Experience working with businesses or local organisations
* Experience in place marketing, retail marketing or town centre promotion
