Overview
A client within the Public Sector based in Wiltshire is recruiting for a Repairs Surveyor to join their Housing and Property team as soon as possible. The role is full-time and temporary, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a housing/property environment.
Role
The key purpose of the role is to deliver a high-quality, responsive repairs service across the Council's housing and property portfolio, including approximately 10,500 tenanted homes, 3,000 garages, and 700 corporate/commercial properties.
Responsibilities
* Managing and inspecting responsive repairs across domestic and commercial buildings
* Undertaking property surveys and diagnosing building faults
* Raising and managing works orders, including variations and follow-up works
* Supporting neighbourhood officers with technical cases and disrepair claims
* Liaising with contractors, ensuring specifications and H&S standards are met
* Monitoring gas servicing, compliance, and contractor performance
* Surveying and specifying insurance-related repair works (fire, vandalism, flood)
Candidate / Qualifications
Requirements
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in building surveying or inspections
* HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction-related field
* A full UK driving licence
Beneficial skills
* Experience with disrepair surveys, damp, and mould investigations
* Knowledge of construction methods, fault diagnosis, and remedial solutions
* Familiarity with housing maintenance in a local government setting
* Understanding of disrepair law, CDM, and Health & Safety legislation
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Remuneration
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
