Join the Assistant SENDCo role at Philip Morant School and College, with opportunities to contribute to a learning environment that enables staff and students to be the best they can be. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023. The successful candidate will be a key part of the ongoing improvement journey within the SEN team.
The school offers a calm and orderly environment, with strong facilities as the largest school in Colchester. Through the Sigma Trust there are opportunities to work with staff in other schools and to access development opportunities. The interview day welcomes every applicant by the Headteacher, and all staff are part of a supportive team with ongoing opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Work 37 hours per week (8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 3:30pm Friday)
* 39-week-per-year role, including term time and non-pupil days
* Support with One Plan review meetings and EHCP annual reviews
* Correspond with external agencies, parents and staff as necessary
* Mentor SEND students
* Coordinate and run interventions such as ELSA, Forest School, Autistic support
* Interact with and support students according to individual educational needs

* Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience of and passion for supporting students with SEND within school
* Ability to use initiative and work without direct supervision
* Ability to prioritise tasks to support the progress and wellbeing of all learners
