Hours of work:
8. 37.5 hours per week
9. Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00
10. On call 1:4 week including weekend
11. You must be under 1 hour travel of the hospital for on call purposes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Electrical Engineer Additional Responsibilities
12. To be the designated Electrical Authorising Person for the Hospital, which will include electrical permit control of any third-party contractors.
13. Minor end of line work where required.
14. PAT Testing.
15. Assist Engineering Manager and Team to comply with Spire electrical policy and HTM 06.
Building and Minor Electrical Responsibilities
16. Operation and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, working alongside specialised contractors when required. Daily testing and reporting.
17. Operation and Maintenance of Nurse Call Systems, working alongside specialised contractors when required. Daily testing and reporting.
18. Fire Compartmentation inspections via a PPM schedule.
19. Fire Door inspections via a PPM schedule.
20. Fire Extinguisher inspections via a PPM schedule.
21. Remedial works to comply with the latest Fire Risk Assessment.
22. Operation and Maintenance of Drainage Systems including any rectification of blockages or leaks.
23. Operation and Maintenance of Access Control Systems, including lock replacements and troubleshooting via Access Control software.
24. Routine Plant Inspections via a PPM schedule.
25. Operation and Maintenance of the Building Maintenance System.
26. Operation and Maintenance of the Emergency Generator, including 1 Sunday per month for test run.
27. Monthly Theatre fabric checks and remedial works if required.
28. Operation and Maintenance of Theatre Operational Lights.
29. Operation and Maintenance of UPS and IPS systems.
30. Operation and Maintenance of Emergency Lighting Systems.
31. Operation and minor PPMs on Electrical Distribution Systems.
32. Minor decorating works and general building maintenance when and where required.
33. Operation and Maintenance on Automatic Doors.
34. Operation and Maintenance of Patient beds, trolleys and exam couches.
35. Lift Entrapment release – Specialised training will be provided.
Water Responsibilities
36. Operation and Maintenance of Hot and Cold-water Systems.
37. Temperature monitoring via PPM schedule.
38. TMV maintenance via PPM schedule.
39. Disinfection of Shower Hoses and Heads via a PPM schedule.
40. Operation and Maintenance of RO systems including troubleshooting and filter replacements.
41. Routine checks of Macerators.
42. Operation and Maintenance of Pressurisation Units and Pumps.
43. Routine checks of Boilers and plate heat exchangers.
44. Plumbing works including replacement toilet flush valves, flush plates, showers and basins.
45. Remedial works to comply with the latest Legionella Risk Assessment and Local Hospital Audits.
46. Complete works to ensure compliance with Spire Policy and HTM 04.
Ventilation System Responsibilities
47. Operation and maintenance of Critical and General Air Handling Units alongside a 3m, 6m and 12m PPM schedule. Both Supply and Extract.
48. Filter Replacements.
49. Operation and maintenance of Ultra Clean Ventilation Systems within the Theatre environment.
50. Operation and troubleshooting of Fire Dampers.
51. Operation and troubleshooting of Air-Conditioning Systems.
52. Working alongside specialised third party contractors to ensure all ventilation verifications meet Spire and HTM 03 requirements and that any remedial actions are completed in a timely manner.
Decontamination Responsibilities
53. Operation and testing on Porous Load Autoclaves, including troubleshooting and working along side specialised contractors for any fault finding and remedial works – Specialised training will be provided.
54. Operation and testing of Surgical Instrument Washers, including troubleshooting and working along side specialised contractors for any fault finding and remedial works. – Specialised training will be provided.
55. Operation and testing of Endoscope Re-Processor, including troubleshooting and working alongside specialised contractors for any fault finding and remedial works – Specialised training will be provided.
Medical Gas Responsibilities
56. Operation and Maintenance of Medial Air Manifold, including cylinder change over.
57. Operation and Maintenance of Vacuum Plant – Specialised training will be provided.
58. Management of Cylinder Store and delivery of cylinders to the wider hospital.
59. Operation and Maintenance of Oxygen VIE, working alongside specialised contractors for any faults.
60. Working alongside specialised third part contractors for troubleshooting and fault finding and ensure all Spire and HTM requirements are met.
General Duties
61. Work alongside the Engineering team to ensure a smooth maintenance and engineering service to the hospital and it’s departments.
62. Assist the team in contractor management and permit control where required.
63. To utilise the Spire Healthcare Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
64. Actioning any ad-hoc requests inputted by hospital colleagues in a timely manner, including such things as white board installations, issuing access swipe cards, and any clinical/non-clinical issue.
65. Minor IT troubleshooting and working alongside the Mobile IT Engineer to rectify any issues.
66. To support the Hospital Engineering emergency on call service – Additional Payments.
What we are looking for:
67. Experience in a similar role as engineer or technician or relevant qualifications
68. Significant experience in building services management with a track record of success
69. Extensive knowledge of building services
70. Able to prioritise demands against resources
71. Trouble shooting and fault finding experience
72. Due to the hospitals location and on call requirements it is essential you have your own vehicle
73. You will be expected to travel for you training requirements, every 3 years, this could be anywhere across the country.
