Job Title: Highways Operative
Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Highways Operative to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of highways and related infrastructure, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the road network.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine and reactive maintenance tasks, including pothole repairs, resurfacing, and drainage works.
* Operate and maintain various machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
* Implement traffic management measures to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
* Conduct regular inspections and identify potential hazards or areas needing attention.
* Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues to the supervisor.
* Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience in highways maintenance or a similar field is essential.
* A valid UK driving licence is required; HGV licence is desirable.
* Certification in traffic management (e.g., LANTRA, NHSS) is advantageous.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Physically fit and capable of manual labour.
