Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a full‑time General Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialist interest in Abdominal Radiology and Non‑Vascular Intervention Radiology.
Candidates will deliver a wide range of services across all modalities, including interventional procedures, and maintain high reporting standards in general and specialized investigations.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the general departmental workload, including duty radiologist rota, vetting requests, and in‑patient CT and MRI reporting.
* Support the urological workload, including ultrasound service, plain film reporting, x‑ray meetings, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) participation.
* Intervention skills, particularly nephrostomies, desirable but not essential.
* Support cross‑sectional imaging workload (cancer target CT, MRI, routine imaging).
* Attend tumour site‑specific cancer MDT meetings as appropriate.
* Teach and train radiology registrars, reporting radiographers, and medical students.
* Attend departmental discrepancy and educational/audit meetings.
Leadership, Management & Service Development
* Evaluate and monitor clinical practice using evidence‑based principles and outcome measures.
* Engage with business planning processes and wider service development.
* Collaborate with the Divisional Senior Team, actively managing the department.
* Develop and implement new ways of working aligned with modernization principles.
* Review staffing and resource use to maximize efficiency of abdominal imaging services.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* MBBS / MBBCh and possess FRCR.
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligible for entry on Register and within six months of receipt of CCT at the time of interview.
* Abdominal Imaging sub‑specialist training.
Desirable Qualifications
* Special interest or additional qualifications in other areas of clinical radiology.
* Higher degree.
Essential Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in general radiology.
* Experience of audit management.
* Independent at urology CT/MRI/sonography and plain film reporting.
* Clinical supervision experience/skills.
* Experience of supervising radiology trainees.
* Oncology CT reporting.
* Independent at GI/GU subspecialist MRI.
* Non‑Vascular IR including nephrostomies.
Desirable Experience
* 5 years supervised training in an appropriate ST equivalent training programme.
* Radiology Fellowship in body imaging / uro‑imaging / oncology imaging.
* Clinical leadership experience or training.
* Higher management training.
* Experience as Educational Supervisor or Clinical Tutor.
Essential Skills
* Ability to organise and manage radiology lists and priorities.
* Ability to teach clinical skills.
Desirable Skills
* Complex US/CT and Fluoroscopy body interventional skills (e.g., urological stenting, gastrostomies, GI stenting).
