Description
A digital forensics and incident response consultant is a professional with experience and knowledge in the field of cyber security. Typically holding a few years of relevant industry experience, they possess a combination of technical expertise, problem‑solving skills and a keen understanding of digital forensics, incident response, security risks and mitigation tactics. Consultants are often team members in security projects, bridging the gap between junior roles and senior consultants, and are adept at taking on responsibilities that require both technical know‑how and the ability to handle client projects or parts thereof. They collaborate with team members and share knowledge across the team to share lessons learned.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver client engagements as part of a team.
* Creating reports or presentations for clients.
* Advise management on risk residue, attackers’ profile and motives and in general explain the incident and course of action accordingly.
* Provide input for risk assessments, conduct security checks, providing remedies and mitigative measures.
* Develop and execute security training for clients.
* Collaborate with IT teams to execute containment and eradication strategy.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Knowledge and use of various digital forensic tools, methods and techniques.
* Proficient in at least one security area including network security, application security, endpoint security, and cloud security.
* Understanding of forensic artefacts, security protocols, authentication, authorization, and attack paths.
* Capability in executing resilience assessments, digital forensic investigation and incident response.
* Familiarity with PICERL framework.
* Familiarity with common cybersecurity tools (e.g. EDR, SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus software).
* Ability to script or program in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for purposes such as automation and tool development.

* Collaboration and teamwork within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Project management skills for small client projects.
* Time management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
