At Protective Care Group, we don't just provide care, we offer a premium, personalised service that transforms the lives of children who have experienced significant trauma. We are looking for passionate, dedicated Support Workers who want to be part of something truly special, where your work will make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Why PCG?
This isn’t just another care role; at PCG, you will be part of a specialised service that prioritises the wellbeing and potential of our young people. Every day, you will join a team that faces exceptional challenges but offers support that is both professional and deeply compassionate.
Our young people need more than just "care" — they need mentors, role models, and advocates committed to creating a better future, regardless of obstacles.
Requirements
In this role, our young people need their Support Worker to:
* Be a steady presence for guidance, coaching, and mentorship, even when boundaries are tested (which they will be!).
* Demonstrate unwavering support despite challenging behaviours, including physical and verbal aggression, absconding, self-harm, and sexualised behaviours. Check out our case studies for more insights: https://protective-care.co.uk/portfolio_category/young-people/
What we’re looking for in you:
We believe that the right people make us truly special. Whether or not you have previous care experience, we seek individuals with the following qualities:
* Empathy, acceptance, curiosity, and playfulness when engaging with young people, balancing support and fun appropriately.
* The ability to calmly de-escalate challenging behaviours while ensuring safety and wellbeing.
* A full UK manual driving licence (our young people enjoy outings).
* A strong belief in our young people’s potential despite their complex needs and traumatic backgrounds.
* Resilience—emotional, mental, and physical—to handle the demands of the role, including physical interventions if necessary.
* Flexibility and adaptability, as the role may involve working across various locations within the North East, including overnight stays and varied shift patterns (day shifts, waking nights, sleep-ins).
* Understanding of the role's aspects, including working hours, locations, and challenges. More details are available here: https://protective-care.co.uk/careers/careers-faqs
We aim for excellence and are committed to developing every young person and staff member. Benefits include:
* A competitive salary of £32,000, plus shift uplifts and sleep-in pay.
* Paid leave, sick pay, and a pension scheme to support your wellbeing.
* Comprehensive training and clear career progression, including fully funded industry-recognised qualifications.
* Wellbeing support, including access to confidential counselling services.
* A supportive, positive culture that celebrates success through regular supervisions and quarterly nomination schemes.
Ready to Be Part of Something Unique?
This is your chance to join a team that’s about more than just a job — it’s about shaping lives through specialist care. If you’re passionate about delivering exceptional care in an extraordinary role, we want to hear from you.
