We are a well-established GP partnership at Trescobeas Surgery in Falmouth, serving around 10,700 patients with a dispensing branch. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic GP to join our team for six sessions per week, with a genuine view to partnership.
About Us
A friendly, supportive environment with five partners and four salaried GPs, working alongside practice nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, physiotherapists, social prescribers and mental health hub staff within the Primary Care Network. We are a training practice for undergraduates and GP trainees. We offer family planning, minor surgery and joint injections. We use Systm1 clinical system. We provide a modern model of care with a total triage system and a culture that supports professional development.
Job Details
Location: Trescobeas Road, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 2UN. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time. Salary: Depending on experience. Date posted: 07 January 2026.
Job Responsibilities
* The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
* The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract
* Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, referring patients to other services/agencies as needed
* Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
* Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
* Effective management of long-term conditions
* Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies and apply self-care principles
* Process administration promptly including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other tasks
* Review medications following relevant policies and clinical guidelines
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with best practice and guidance
* Work collaboratively and share the practice workload
* Adhere to best practice through clinical guidelines and the audit process
* Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans
* Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives
* Accept delegated responsibility for specific areas or the QOF
* Attend and contribute to external and internal meetings
* Contribute to development and maintenance of the organisation including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
* Adhere to safeguarding adults and children policies and procedures
* Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
* Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice
* Commit to self-learning and continuing professional development
* Review practice protocols and policies and promote continuous improvement
* Be an integral part of the general practice team and support the wider network
* On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

Qualifications
Essential
* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
* Outstanding clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of a Partner
* Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice
* Good MS Office and clinical system IT knowledge
* Understanding of clinical governance processes
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and accurate note-taking
* Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
Desirable
* Knowledge of health promotion strategies

Experience

* Ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in a primary care environment
* Minimum of two years as either a salaried GP or post-graduation for a non-GP partner
* Understanding of the primary care contract and QOF
* Experience with medicines management
