An opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland for a sonographer who will work as part of the dynamic Ultrasound team based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

We provide a comprehensive (non-obstetric) ultrasound service to a wide range of specialities within the hospital and local GP's.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic sonographer to join our team. The department is integrated into the Radiology Department at Raigmore hospital, and we have one peripheral site in Invergordon, Ross-shire. As a small dynamic team we work to deliver innovation and excellence in ultrasound practice.
You will be part of a busy, friendly, supportive team of 10 sonographers, providing a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including general abdominal, gynaecological, DVT and small parts. Specialist skills in vascular or MSK would be desirable but is not essential.
There is an ongoing commitment to participate in our training programmes for trainee sonographers and specialist trainee registrars.
You need to be able to work independently, demonstrating a high level of competence and will need to demonstrate excellent communication and reporting skills.
Currently the department operates 5 days a week but this may change in the future to provide a 7 day service.
Candidates must hold PG (Cert), PG (Dip), DMU or equivalent and be state registered with the HCPC or other relevant professional body such as NMC.
Duties Include
To provide an efficient high quality ultrasound service comprising unsupervised scanning sessions within the trust maintaining a high standard of patient care.
To work as an independent practitioner by performing ultrasound scans to a high diagnostic standard, formulating a report and communicating the results to the appropriate clinician and to accountable for own professional actions.
Provide specialist advice pertaining to the ultrasound service.
Responsible for training and supervision of all staff within the ultrasound unit.
To be actively involved and assist with the department Audit, Research and Clinical Governance programme.
To deputise for the Team Lead Sonographer.
