About The Team
The Domestic Corruption Unit (DCU) has been established in partnership with the Home Office to strengthen and coordinate the policing response to domestic bribery and corruption, in line with His Majesty's Government's Anti-Corruption Strategy. The unit acts as the national coordinating function for domestic corruption, providing a central capability to receive referrals from police forces, partner agencies, public sector bodies, and private industry relating to suspected corruption within the UK.
The DCU undertakes the triage, development, and assessment of referrals to determine investigative viability, threat, risk, and harm. Where appropriate, matters may be investigated directly by the unit or allocated to local police forces, regional organised crime units, or partner agencies, with ongoing support and oversight. In addition, the DCU provides specialist support to live bribery and corruption investigations across policing, working closely with national partners including the Joint Anti-Corruption Unit (JACU) and the National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) to build a clearer understanding of the domestic corruption threat and identify systemic vulnerabilities.
Beyond investigation, the DCU has a strong preventative and disruption focus. The unit works to identify high-harm corruption risks, develop insights into emerging threats, and support improvements in policy, practice, and capability across policing and partner organisations. Through this combined investigative, preventative, and coordination role, the DCU seeks to protect the public, strengthen institutional integrity, and deliver a more effective national response to domestic bribery and corruption.

About The Role
The Financial Investigator (FI) will provide specialist financial investigative capability to support the Domestic Corruption Unit (DCU) in the investigation of bribery, corruption, money laundering, and associated criminality. The role is central to strengthening the evidential and financial aspects of complex criminal investigations, from early financial analysis through to court proceedings.
The postholder will support criminal investigations by undertaking financial tracing, analysis, and evidential development in accordance with PACE, while also identifying and pursuing opportunities for asset recovery through confiscation, restraint, civil recovery, and forfeiture where appropriate. The role requires an experienced, accredited FI who is able to operate effectively from the outset and contribute to both operational delivery and the development of financial investigative capability within the DCU.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
Undertake financial investigations in support of criminal bribery, corruption, money laundering, and related economic crime investigations.
Conduct financial analysis and tracing to identify the flow of criminal funds, assets, and benefit derived from criminal conduct.
Develop clear and defensible financial profiles of subjects, obtaining, analysing, and interpreting financial evidence and intelligence from both open and restricted sources.
Support criminal investigations by evidencing financial enquiries to the required criminal standard, including the preparation of formal statements, schedules, and reports.
Present financial evidence at court when required, including giving evidence as a professional witness.
Requirements
For this role, we need you to have:
Current accreditation as a Financial Investigator, or within a recognised self-suspension period enabling immediate re-accreditation.
Successful completion of the relevant NPIA (now NCA) Accredited Financial Investigation Course.
Proven experience supporting criminal investigations through financial analysis and evidential development.
Experience of preparing financial evidence for court and presenting evidence as a professional witness.
Experience of working with POCA powers, including confiscation and restraint.
PIP Level 2 accreditation or equivalent investigative qualification is desirable for this position.

Selection Process
As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.
The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
