Location: Thorpe House, Head Office (Base)
Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum

About the Role
We are looking for a Health and Social Care Assessor to join our Training Team and support staff across our services to complete their Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications. This is a service-based role involving regular travel to our hospitals and care services to assess staff in real work settings and provide coaching, feedback, and structured support.
You must be able to drive and have access to your own car for business use. Assessors travel frequently across the Loughborough and Derby area to complete workplace observations, meet learners, and liaise with managers. Business mileage is reimbursed in line with company policy.You will manage a caseload of learners, observe practice, review evidence, and make clear and accurate assessment decisions in line with awarding body requirements.
You will also keep digital portfolios up to date, support learners who need additional guidance, and work closely with managers to plan assessments around service activities and shift patterns.This role plays a key part in our workforce development plan. You will help staff build their skills, progress in their careers, and strengthen the quality of care across our services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and complete assessments for staff working toward Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications.
2. Observe practice in real work environments and gather evidence of competence.
3. Provide constructive feedback and regular progress reviews.
4. Maintain accurate digital learner portfolios and assessment records.
5. Liaise with Registered Managers and Team Leaders to plan workplace assessment activities.
6. Support learners to understand requirements and gather appropriate evidence.
7. Take part in standardisation and quality assurance activities.
8. Travel across services as required and manage a flexible assessment schedule.
About You
Essential
9. English and Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent).
10. A recognised Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, Level 3 Assessor Awards, or legacy A1 / D32/33).
11. Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
12. Recent experience working in a Health and Social Care setting.
13. Experience mentoring or supporting staff or learners.
14. Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage a caseload.
15. Competence in IT systems and digital learning platforms.
16. Full driving licence and access to your own car for business use.
Desirable
17. Internal Quality Assurance qualification or willingness to complete one if required.
18. Experience assessing Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications.
19. Experience preparing for external quality assurance visits.
