Job Overview
We are looking for one whole‑time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in Trauma, Pelvis and Acetabular surgery to be based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Northern General Hospital, Sheffield). This post would also include primary lower limb arthroplasty at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full‑time will be eligible to be considered. If appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Join 2 existing colleagues to manage pelvic and acetabular trauma. The appointee should be able to manage complex acetabular fractures, including fixation and replacement, and pelvic ring injuries.
* Undertake complex fracture care, including internal fixation of femur, tibial plateau and plafond fractures, humerus and forearm. Skills in advanced nailing techniques of the long bones are required.
* Share responsibility for weekday trauma and fractured neck of femur operating lists.
* Conduct elective outpatient clinics and elective operating sessions.
* Provide cover for consultant colleagues during periods of absence.
