Randstad Education is seeking reliable supply Teaching Assistants to provide focused, 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs across welcoming mainstream primary schools in Plymouth and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact on a childs day, offering the total flexibility of day:to:day work without the demand of long:term planning or marking.
Job Description / The Role
As a day:to:day supply SEN TA, your core focus will be to step in and support specific children 1:1 who require extra assistance with their learning, communication, or emotional needs. You will quickly adapt to the pupils routine, helping them access the mainstream curriculum and follow their tailored learning plans.
Working on a supply basis requires a proactive approach, as you will collaborate on the day with class teachers and the schools Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to ensure the pupil feels secure, included, and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1:1 support to specific pupils during lessons, breaks, and transition periods.

Adapt classroom activities on the spot to suit the pupils specific learning, communication, or behavioural needs.
*
Assist with emotional regulation and help the pupil navigate social situations in a mainstream environment.
*
Maintain strong communication with the classroom teacher to provide feedback on the pupils progress.
*
Uphold school policies regarding safeguarding, inclusion, and behaviour management.
Requirements and Qualifications
We are looking for patient, resilient, and highly adaptable individuals who meet the following criteria:

Experience: Previous experience working 1:1 or in small groups with primary:aged children with SEN (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, or SEMH).

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast:paced environment, confidently step into new classrooms, and build quick rapport with pupils.
*
Communication: Excellent communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
*
Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning (Level 2/3 NVQ) or special educational needs are desirable, but relevant experience is highly valued.

Compliance: Must possess an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or be willing to process a new one through Randstad).
