**The Company****Why This Role Matters**In this role, the Private Sale Researcher will be a primary support to the Global Head of Old Master Paintings and provide immediate, on-the-ground assistance for ‘live’ private sales, and additionally will assist with long-term Private Sale planning, with research at the core of the role and with a particular focus on consignor and buyer projects, often in partnership with Client Strategy - ensuring that there are individual plans according to collection/client to lay the groundwork for future business. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong research and project management skills and knowledge of Old Master Paintings. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and an independent thinker who takes initiative.**How You'll Make an Impact*** Partner with Global Head and Senior International Specialists to ensure effective sourcing of objects for Private Sale and build Pipeline/strategies for sourcing and selling works;* Carry out academic research on select Private sale works – researching attribution, provenance, literature and exhibition history;* Undertake academic note writing on select Private sale works, including sourcing comparative images;* Produce marketing materials, including factsheets, ensuring consistency of style and layout of sales packs for the International team;* Carry out commercial research - compiling price comparison documents;* In certain instances, liaise directly with Global Head’s clients and/or their assistants and collection curators/managers on organisational and administrative matters (shipping/restoration/framing), which will in turn involve effective communication and collaboration with the Senior Sale coordinator of Private sales* Work with the client strategy team to capture client wish lists and work with Senior International Specialists to match wishes;* Document and collate full object research along with complete market and ownership histories for high-value works for Private sale using catalogue raisonnes and relevant provenance databases, continually enhancing Christie’s object database with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;* Ensure that all client and object information is logged and maintained in COS (Christie’s Client & Object System) and other systems where appropriate;* Become an expert and champion in Christie’s main data systems: Object Finder, COS, JDE (cataloguing system) etc..* Assist regional Heads of Private sales and other colleagues on urgent private sale-related projects as required;* On occasion, assist the auction cataloguing team in busy moments, especially around auction catalogue deadlines;* On occasion, assist specialist business-getters with research for Proposals.* Other duties as applicable.
