An opportunity has arisen for a Part time Band 6 (0.7 WTE) post within the Children's Epilepsy Nursing Team.
The Children's Epilepsy Nursing Team have specialist knowledge and skills in working with children and young people presenting with epilepsy. We support children and young people and their families to effectively manage their diagnosis, alongside the wider MDT. We work with children in a variety of settings including clinic, home, hospital and educational settings.
The post is based at Fusion House and across both the Blackburn and Burnley sites at ELHT, and flexible working across all areas is required. Working hours will primarily be Monday - Friday 0800-1800 (excluding bank Holidays) but need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
As an enthusiastic and dynamic senior nurse, you will use your knowledge and skills to provide evidence-based assessment, treatment and care plans. You will support children, young people and their families in managing their diagnosis, and work with the wider MDT to achieve this.
You will be expected to work autonomously as well as part of the MDT, and hold your own nurse led clinics.
You will also be required to supervise and train nursing and medical students and provide education and training to other professionals in both the health and education sectors.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will participate in the co-ordination of respiratory care at ELHT. They will have an established understanding of children with Epilepsy. They will provide clinical advice and support within a hospital setting and facilitate seamless transition from hospital to home through multi-professional / multi-agency working. They will also work autonomously providing nurse led clinics and advice and support to a range of professionals.
The post holder will be expected to manage a caseload of patients with epilepsy in a variety of settings ie: as an inpatient, in their own home and at school, as well as the clinic environment They will also provide education and support to children and young people with epilepsy conditions and their carers to enable them to reach their optimum level of independence and health, social and psychological well-being through provision of clinical, social and emotional support.

Education
Essential criteria
* Registered as First Level Nurse on Part 8 or Part 15 of the Nursing & Midwifery Council Register.
* Access to a vehicle
Desirable criteria
* Willing to undertake further study as required by the post.
* Non-Medical Prescribing V300
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working with children / young people with epilepsy.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in a community setting

* Recent evidence of working in a clinical setting within paediatrics
