Job Description
Job Purpose
To manage technical aspects of the research project (in vivo investigation of CART) on behalf of the Principal Investigator, including providing specialist technical expertise in in vivo models and flow cytometry, and being responsible for the creation, setup, and operation of all technical resources to support research objectives. This 9-month project is based in the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Undertake specialist technical aspects and provide expertise within the research group or facility. Support supervision and training of students or staff where required.
2. Manage technical aspects of the project, including laboratory management, resources, and staff, ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement.
3. Generate ideas and implement experimental strategies.
4. Design and create experiments, protocols, and technical resources.
5. Stay updated with developments in relevant technical areas.
6. Troubleshoot complex technical problems and data issues.
7. Analyze data, identify trends, and present findings.
8. Manage research budgets and procurement decisions.
9. Ensure health and safety compliance and maintain records.
10. Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance research delivery and support strategic aims.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
* Demonstrated competencies or equivalent qualifications (SCQF level 8 or higher) and experience.
* Home Office Personal Licence holder or trained.
* Experience with handling immunocompromised/NSG mice.
* Proficient in relevant IT and technical software.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Effective teamworking and planning abilities.
* Relevant work experience in a research environment, including managing budgets and delivering research goals independently.
Terms and Conditions
Full-time, fixed-term for 9 months, based at Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre. Salary: Grade 6, £33,482 - £37,174 per annum. Closing date: 7 August 2025.
