Job summary The Ministry of Defence, Civil Service workforce is diverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff to support the British Army. The Tactical Supply Wing (TSW) is part of Joint Aviation Command, with the goal to project & sustain aviation refuelling capabilities worldwide in order to meet UK Defence Missions and Tasks. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description TSW Armourer is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, repair, modification of all small arms & associated equipment, in accordance with current publications and regulations. We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual who demonstrates initiative and a commitment to excellence. Playing a key role in delivering high quality support and services to personnel engaged in training, participating in exercises and deploying on operations worldwide. This position requires flexibility, and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team. If you are proactive, customer focused, and thrive in a fast-paced setting, we want to hear from you. Main Role Responsibilities: The maintenance, inspection, repair, modification of all small arms & associated equipment belonging to the unit,in accordance with current publications & regulations. Jointly manage and share responsibility for the 24/7 on call armourer duties in coordination with the Armoury Supervisor. Ensuring that all tasks given are carried out with due regard to safety & quality. Issue and receipt of all weapons & ancillaries held, in accordance withcurrent regulations. The regulations for the use of COSHH, PPE is to be always adhered to. Ensuring that work areas are maintained in a safe, tidy, clean condition. Reporting any defective equipment & any works service that require attention to the supervisor. All aspects of armoury security are to be always adhered to. Use of computer system to carry out essential tasks. Keep up to date with all mandatory Civil Servant qualifications. Conduct any other task given by the Senior Armourer or 2IC HQ Sqn. Person specification Essential Skills Required: Willingness to complete the RAF recognised Small Arms Course. Able to work effectively in a small team Adapting to new equipment, processes and regulatory updates Proactive in diagnosing faults and ensure all equipment are fully serviceable Communicate clearly with supervisors, armoury staff, and the wider unit Ability to use computer systems for logging, tracking and recording equipment activity accurately Maintain safe working areas and follow strict maintenance protocols Desirable Skills: The role requires use of the - Joint Asset Management & Engineering Solutions (JAMES), for which Training will be provided.
