Overview
This role is with a global engineering organisation at their Darlington site. We’re hiring two experienced Product Design Engineering Product Specialists (Mechanical CAD) to support ongoing and future engine programmes. This is a product-focused mechanical design role, suited to engineers who enjoy owning complex components or systems end-to-end and working closely with manufacturing, suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
* Lead component and subsystem design from concept through to design release
* Own and present design intent through formal design reviews (PPT, VPI, VPCR)
* Drive design decision-making, concept selection and optimisation
* Apply and lead use of tools and processes such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, Creo, ANSYS
* Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
* Provide technical leadership on complex components or smaller projects with ambiguity
* Support continuous improvement of design processes and standards
* Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians where required
* Proven ownership of engine systems or engine components
* Solid mechanical analysis experience at component or system level
* Ability to work independently with internal and external stakeholders
* Background in mechanical product design within a complex engineering environment
Nice to have
* Experience with Windchill PLM
What we’re looking for
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Background operating at Senior or Lead Engineer level
* Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability
* Comfortable managing complexity and competing technical requirements
* Clear, confident communicator who builds strong working relationships
